Juniper

Hi. I'm Juniper Rakhman Gerardi, a designer, stitcher, beadworker, and creative born and raised in the Eastern Woodlands. Sustainability lies at the heart of my work, where I meticulously craft unique pieces that challenge the gender norms of clothing and discover new ways to minimize textile waste.

I’m a recent graduate (Class of ‘24) of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University through the Robertson Scholars Leadership Program. During my time at university, I designed my own educational path, blending fine arts, fashion design, graphic design, costume production (MFA), UX design, media/journalism, and fashion marketing into a comprehensive curriculum.

In addition to being a designer, I’m also an upcycler, jewelry maker, musician, and polyglot. My designs frequently incorporate elements of fashion history, my cultural background, my travels, and my love of the outdoors. At my core, I’m a creative with a deep appreciation for pattern, print, and bold silhouettes, as well as a reverence for protecting our planet, centering sustainability in everything I do.

Currently, I’m seeking new opportunities in fashion design and theatrical costuming to strengthen my skills. I have extensive experience in garment construction, from the first pencil stroke while drafting a pattern to the couture finish of the final garment—and everything in between.
